Rep. Jim Walsh proposes an amendment to help bank branches in underserved areas stay open

During late-night floor debate, Rep. Jim Walsh, R-Aberdeen, proposed an amendment to provide a credit for interest received on loans issued by banks in underserved areas. Walsh says the change would help financial institutions keep the doors open for many smaller, often rural, branch locations. Amendment 868 to House Bill 2167 was voted down on a party-line vote.
