Rep. Jim Walsh tells KXRO a capital budget vote is coming “probably this week”

Rep. Jim Walsh, R-Aberdeen, tells Kyle Pauley of KXRO the House could vote on the capital budget as soon as this week, and that he expects it to eventually be approved. Although his outlook is optimistic, Walsh said the capital budget may initially fall short of a necessary supermajority because many legislators believe its passage should be tied to relief for rural landowners who are hampered from building due to restricted water access brought about by the Hirst Supreme Court decision.

Walsh, a member of the Capital Budget Committee, also discussed in some detail his bill which would allow the state to terminate state agency staff who lie to to the legislature or its committees at a public hearing, his bill to take part of the funds generated from marijuana sales and return them to counties and a few other bills he is sponsoring this session.
