Rep. Jim Walsh discusses recent House concurrence vote on so-called assault weapons ban
19th District State Rep. Jim Walsh, R-Aberdeen, shares comments from the House galleries after the House concurrence vote on a constitutionally-questionable assault weapons bill. House Bill 1240 bans the sale, manufacture, and import of so-called assault weapons in Washington state.
Among the rejected amendments was a change that would have exempted U.S. armed forces from the restrictions when they move to Washington on official orders.
House Bill 1240 now heads to the governor's desk for signature. The bill contains an emergency clause and will take effect immediately upon signature. The 2023 session is scheduled to adjourn on Sunday, April 23.
